SUCCESS!!!  I have assigned myself a goal and actually completed it!  Admittedly, I gave myself a fairly simple goal but I completed it nonethless!

The funny thing is that last week is that I worked quite a bit of overtime and yet, I managed to get things done in a painting sense.  Didn't sleep much, though.  That probably had a little to do with it.  Traditionally, however, the less time I've had to do things, the more valuable I consider my time and the more I get done.  Tragic.  But that's a different issue altogether.

The goal was to finish a squad of Terminators.

So, this is my total output.  The big gray building is, well, a big gray building.  Low and to the right is a bridge/monorail section. Low and to the left are ruin sections.  Up top, however, are the minis themselves.

The funny thing is that these were some of the hardest things I've ever painted.  You see, about 6 months ago I was playing in a campaign and letting someone just getting in to the game use my army since I have more than enough painted for two.  Unfortunately, he had several things in his army that I didn't have enough of painted.  Especially Terminators.  So I assembled, base coated and laid some basic color on a set I had sitting in boxes.  And they've been waiting for me to finish them so I decided it's time.

They were really tough, though.  You see, usually when I paint something, I start and bit by bit, I get it done one small piece at a time.  This time I kept getting hung up in all the things I didn't do when I started them.  There always seemed to be something that was wrong and I kept going back and fixing things instead of just continuing forward.  Eventually, I just said to hell with it and just ignored those fuckups.  They're not the best work I've ever done, but so what?  Nobody is going to be looking at them from a couple of inches.  Only I will know that this part should be this color and not that color and nobody will compare every Termie I've ever painted to notice the minuscule differences.

Woe to the fucker who faces them on the field!

On a side note, and you might get some laughs out of this, when I was taking that last picture, I noticed I got a picture of Welsh Girl's mug.  That picture has to be about 20 years old and from left to right, you can see Dredlock Girl, Welsh Dad, Welsh Mom, Welsh Girl and Party Girl.  Weren't they just adorable or some kind of crap like that?

My next goal (once again a fairly simple one since this coming week will probably be worse that the last) is to paint one of my Masters of the Chapter (of which I have already completed two of four) and three foamcore buildings.  I may have to amend the "paint three buildings" to "paint or construct three buildings".  I started noticing that I'm running low on buildings to paint.  I had to go to small ruins and giant buildings to have something to do.  I've got some ideas I've been knocking about and it may soon be time to whip something up.  Of course, I need to find some room to put all this stuff.  I have a lot of buildings as it is but it beats being addicted to WOW or watching TV all the time.  I'm not a creative person and I should indulge the few creative outlets I actually engage in...

That having been said,  that, as they say, is all.

I apologize for my rampant unbelieving ways, oh mighty Emperor.

Of all the things to disbelieve, my ability to paint little army men is low on the insult list. :)

The stapler?!?!? by atreides (2.00 / 0) #7 Mon Jun 16, 2008 at 03:03:25 PM EST
That's not my fault.  I married into that stapler.
